New Hampshire Bar Association Publishes “Advancing Professionalism in the 21st Century” by Orr & Reno’s Maureen Smith

The spring 2012 edition of the New Hampshire Bar Journal features a lead article on “Advancing Professionalism in the 21st Century” by Orr & Reno attorney Maureen D. Smith. As Chair of the New Hampshire Bar Association’s Ethics Committee, Smith provides a comprehensive update on the Ethics Committee’s recent initiatives to help lawyers address practice concerns involving legal ethics, professionalism, and professional liability, the current theme of the New Hampshire Bar Association’s top legal publication.

Smith has been a member of the Ethics Committee since 2002 and was appointed as Chair in 2011. “The Committee is working hard in a variety of ways to help practitioners confront the fast-changing realities of modern legal practice, where increased lawyer mobility and use of social media is the norm. The article is intended to highlight Committee resources available to lawyers when they need help in navigating ethical dilemmas.”

Smith is a member of Orr & Reno’s Legal Ethics and Energy & Environmental practice groups. She has chaired both environmental and ethics committees for the New Hampshire Bar Association and is a frequent author and lecturer on topics in environmental law, renewable energy, and ethics. She is also a trustee and board member of the New Hampshire chapter of The Nature Conservancy.
